Some designs come from planning… and some come from memories that quietly stay with us for years.
Coastal Treasures 01: Surfboards and Sailboats was inspired by one of my favorite childhood memories — a rare family vacation to Hawaii when I was young. With four siblings and a dad who worked second shift at the newspaper, time away together didn’t happen very often, so those sun-filled days felt extra special.
I still remember walking sandy paths lined with palm trees, watching my older brothers surf at the beach at our hotel near the end of Waikiki, and spotting sailboats drifting in the distance. The air felt calm and breezy — the kind of moment you want to hold onto forever.
This design is my way of stitching a little piece of that feeling.

A Little Story Behind This Piece
When I designed this pattern, I kept thinking about how rare that Hawaiian trip was for my family. We spent entire days near the water — sandy feet, salty air, and the steady sound of waves in the background.
Those memories feel soft around the edges now, but the feeling remains: calm, togetherness, and a sense of wonder.
I hope when you stitch this pattern, you feel a bit of that same peaceful energy.

Ways to Finish This Piece
One of my favorite things about coastal designs is how versatile they are. Here are a few finishing ideas:
- Frame it for a beach house or coastal-themed room
- Display it in a light wood or whitewashed frame for a breezy look
- Turn it into a pillow for a sunroom or reading nook
- Create a seasonal summer display with shells and driftwood accents
This piece was designed to feel calm and welcoming — wherever it lands.
