Hocus Pocus, I Need Coffee to Focus — Free Halloween Cross Stitch Pattern

Stitched Mock-Up (NOT AI-generated) of 300×300 count finished design.

Stitchy friends, I don’t know about you, but once September hits, a lot of mornings run on two things: coffee and a little bit of magic. So, naturally, I had to pull this design from my Etsy pattern store to stitch…with just a hint of Disney.

Say hello to my newest free pattern: “Hocus Pocus, I Need Coffee to Focus.” This one has been brewing (pun very much intended) for a while now, and I am so excited to finally share it with you.

A close-up, well-cropped photo showing the detail of the coffee cup, the purple witch's hat, and the little jack-o-lantern.

About the Design

This design offers a whole fun autumn mood for the hoop. It features a to-go coffee cup (lid and all since we don’t want to spill) topped with a purple witch’s hat covered in stars. A couple of coffee beans and a cheerful little jack-o-lantern keep it company. And the best part…the whole thing is designed to look like a soft watercolor painting — all blended, dreamy tones rather than sharp cartoon lines, so it stiches up looking like a tiny piece of fall art.

And the sentiment “Hocus Pocus, I need coffee to focus” is just the right touch of Disney inspiration needed to start the day for any Disney fan.

Whether you’re a coffee-obsessed witch…or a fan of the Sanderson sisters…or just love a good Halloween pun, this design is for you!

Pattern Details

This pattern comes in two size and color options, so you can pick the version that matches your stitching mood:

  • 200×200 stitches – a slightly simplified palette, marbled background, still gorgeous and a touch quicker to stitch.
  • 300×300 stitches – a full palette of colors, a full-coverage marbled background to set the mood, with all the shading and depth

Both are the same design, it’s just different levels of color detail — so choose whichever fits your thread stash (or your patience level, no judgments here!).

Grab Your Free Pattern

As always, this pattern is free for you, my stitchy friends, because sharing a little joy (and a lot of coffee-fueled Halloween spirit) is what this whole blog is about. (This pattern comes from my old Etsy shop vault – so the copyright is under that name.)

Never miss a free pattern! Patterns like this one go out to my newsletter family first — plus behind-the-scenes stitching chatter, seasonal freebies, and the occasional bad pun (no promises on the quality control there). Sign up below and join the goofy-est corner of the internet.

Halloween is such a fun stretch on the stitching calendar — a little spooky, a little sweet, and honestly just an excuse to stitch pumpkins and witch hats to your heart’s content. If you stitch this one up, I would absolutely love to see it! Tag me or share it in the comments below — nothing makes my day like seeing your stitching come to life.

If you enjoyed this pattern and want to help keep the free patterns coming, consider buying me a coffee (or some DMC thread) on Ko-fi — every little bit helps me keep this blog stitching along, and yes, the irony of a coffee-and-witches pattern being supported by literal coffee money is not lost on me.

Happy stitching, and may your coffee be strong and your thread never tangle!
